I want you to be held

I know it is comfort you need.

I hear it in my voice when I recite your words

No spotlight yet, but it's in the undertones.

Between the lines are secret coded worlds

Scratched with thorns and shards of glass

So only those looking have them found.

It's hard to know when you came within me,

Or if it was just a point of hiding

'Til the right time came.

I'm the one who gives you sight,

The voice you use to shout.

I want to hold your hands and clutch you close...

But maybe that's me not understanding

How you've highlighted my best and worst;

The fluro stripes of stitches,

That return to light each night.

Within my heart are weighted bandages

Cotton buds filled with acid

All it takes is a spotlight

And half-heartedly I am naked.

~

Working on a monologue. Character (me) needs a hug.
