Ghost in the Machine

by Sam Harty

By ᔕᗩᗰ ᕼᗩᖇTYPublished 2 years ago • 1 min read

There's a world outside my window

but my drapes are pulled closed tight.

I don't wish to go outside my room

even though I know it isn't right.

My world is solemn since you left,

my days spent online checking from

site to site to see if there's any

word from you to let me know that

you're alright.

You're not even a green dot on my screen,

while I sit on Instagram on my own,

waiting for a word, any word, to know

I'm not alone.

I would log into Whatsapp but you

won't take my call, remembering

our video chats hurts the worst of all.

You never had Facebook so that would

be a bust, I don't know how much longer

I can wait before I just turn into dust.

With all this technology at my finger

tips, the fact that I can't reach you

is really quite a trip.

Why won't you get in touch with me

I don't know what it means but lately

I just feel like a ghost in the machine.
