In a tiny world we dwell
Where we all know each other well
From afar, over the fence
We're all just ghosts, in suspense
We stare at each other, perplexed
Realizing that we're all vexed
By what's inside, what's unseen
We're all just ghosts, a figment of a dream
In this small world, we all bear
Our ghosts hidden under our wear
Be wary of those you undress
Lest they haunt you, causing distress
We love to judge, to hold sway
On what others do or say
Hysterics abound, discontent
But rarely do we say "I like him" with intent
A long tale told in a circle round
By a wise drunk, whose insights astound
From the edge of the village, he watched
As things went their course, fate unmatched
Only ghosts can stop their own
And face their fears, the unknown
To see what scares them the most
And release themselves from their ghostly host
I have a ghost in my room
That fills me with a sense of doom
I hear it lurking in the attic, unseen
Its presence felt, like a waking dream
I see it in the window, as it peers
How it steps heavy, with boots and gears
Pulling the curtains by the tail
It watches me always, without fail
I know it's there, I feel its presence near
But I'm not alone, that much is clear
For in this small world, we all have ghosts
Haunting us, the ones we fear the most.
