Get Up

Lyrics by: Sara Wilson

I know what you're thinking....

ANOTHER stinkin song?!

Doesn't this girl ever shut the fuck up?!

No.

No, I don't.

I have been working on this for quite some time, and I think I finally have it how I want it to be.

However... It does come with a trigger warning.

This song is very personal. It's about my own journey of overcoming self- harm and chronic people pleasing.

Now press play on this music video and let yourself escape on this cinematic adventure that I worked incredibly hard on:

Get Up-

If I just bend a little lower

if I do a little more

maybe they will see my worth

and we can end this war

I bit my tongue until it bled

I gave them all my light

If I could be somebody better

I know they'd treat me right

🥀

Stand up, Bitch, and wipe your tears

put down that heavy load

you're bleeding out to pave a path for what?

Do you even know?

No one is coming in this hole

to rescue you from pain

So, I have come to take the wheel

just unleash me from my chain

🥀

They're leaving you in the wreckage

threw you into the line of fire

they're watching you burn alive

to feed their hearts desire

No one's coming to save you.

No one's fixing the break.

So, I'm taking back every single piece

that they tried to take

🥀

Look at you just letting yourself fall

but I'm here...

I'm ready to save us from it all

🥀

No, please. They will call me selfish

they'll say that I am cold

can't you make them learn to love

the pieces that they hold?

I can still get their acceptance

if I sacrifice my voice

I'll drain myself to give them peace

I don't have a choice

🥀

You had a choice but it was stolen

while you tried to please

You can't pray for dignity

while begging on your knees

They kicked you when you offered help

degraded you for years

while you were sacrificing yourself

drowning in your fears

🥀

Get up out of the wreckage

Get out of the line of fire

no more burning alive

just to feed their desire

No one's coming to save you.

No one's fixing the break.

So, I'm taking back every single piece

that they tried to take

🥀

I refuse to watch you let yourself fall

Get up off your ass

stop pretending you're small

🥀

I'm just so tired of the fighting

tired of the blows

I'm just so tired of the fighting

tired of the blows

🥀

Then hand the pen to me, my girl

and watch how fury flows

I am the one who'll rise against the one's

who watched you burn

The one who'll speak the truth out loud

Trust me. It's my turn

🥀

Will you protect me from their words?

Can you save me from it all?

🥀

I'll build a fortress out of iron

I will never let you fall

I will not take their shit again

I will not let you bleed

I am the fire in your bones

the hero that you need

🥀

I pulled myself from the wreckage

out of the line of fire

no more burning alive

no longer stuck in their pyre

No one came to save me.

No one fixed the break.

I took back every single piece

that they tried to take

🥀

I'll never trip again

never stumble or fall

I had to learn to save myself

from it all

🥀

Is it really over?

🥀

It's over. Drop the shield.

🥀

I don't have to bite my tongue anymore.

🥀

Never again.

🥀

I saved myself from it all
