Let the play begin

Fresh-cut grass fills the air

Each on their side, not yet to cross

Waiting the sound of the whistle

Shrilling through the air

Hearts beating with anticipation

Both teams competent of the win

Tasting that victory to come

Ready to fight at the enemies’ sight

Seven to eleven on each side of the field

Kick-off to begin the match

Whistle shrills with a burst of movement

With feet propelling the ball

The fight is in for the lead

Coaches yelling while fans are screaming

Smoothness keeps the ball moving

Ref's whistle blows, stops for a foul

Taken kick, ball back in action

Never slow or mundane with so many plays

Moving parts all around and refs in tow

Flag raises high, now offsides to go

Push, shove, and even a hard foul for a bad pick

Here’s a card just for kicks

Sweating, heated emotions across the pitch

The fight is alive to the last whistle blows
