This time was different as she felt no anger

She wanted another chance to prove she was right

Yet, what she got was endless sleepless nights

That was if she wasn't drunk out of her mind

The only way she could function or try to unwind

His actions were cold and made her feel worse

The size of her heart was measured by the bills in her purse

She didn't walk away from it all

Just to once again fight an imaginary brick wall

The best part of their sudden ending

She no longer was stuck in a house of pretending

Her emotions were real and keeping her on track

She felt no anger but there would be no ever going back

It was the first time such a situation presented her relief

There would be no looking over her shoulder or sitting in a state of grief

This time life would look and feel the way she wanted it to

Not fueled by sadness or questioning what went wrong

To her he used to be the lyrics to her favorite song

Now just a stepping stone to the life she deserved all along
