I left for space this morning
my bags packed
my hat on straight.
As I walk down the street
I imagine doing the back stroke
through thick waves of molecules
the after-taste
of space dust in my mouth.
The sound of harpsichords
plucked note by note
in an endless haze of light.
I see the Earth, now a tiny
blue marble. I imagine
my fears, even tinier marbles
unable to be seen without
a high powered microscope.
I've arrived.
