Gaining Queendom In Her Day
While batting away sordid distractions
She wakes with a smile upon her face,
As she stretches into the sun’s golden rays,
Swamped by delicious radiance,
Her entire bed set ablaze.
***
She knows that today is feeling different,
The smile on her face speaks it all,
Anticipation of the excitement,
Her giggles splashing around in a waterfall.
***
The day is hers to fill as she pleases,
Every second filled with infinite possibilities,
Just waiting for her instructions,
Once she’s taken care of any responsibilities.
***
Her dreams will awash the hours,
Bringing each into the future realm,
Closer and closer it spins her wishes,
A mistress of destiny, she has the helm.
***
Every second, every minor decision,
Will ricochet her into a thousand different pathways,
Crossroads flashing by as inappropriate,
All depending on her mood and phase.
***
Next week may demand her repentance,
Though she is expected to shrug it off in glee,
She’ll decide on the wrongs of her world,
Those itches that annoy her, the thorns turned beastly.
***
The smile on her face drips delight,
As she wanders through the minutes of today,
Where will she shine the brightest,
As her pondering leads her darkness astray.
***
She’ll not stay quiet, as she tramples the aisles,
Batting away the sordid distractions,
Knee high boots tipped to defeat,
As the world drama flees through her interactions.
***
Nothing will sway her thoughts,
She’s on a mission through the daily powers,
She’ll fight without struggle,
Gaining queendom of today’s fragile hours.

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
