Time Blocks

Days of Future are built on Blocks of Past

Doomed by ignorance to repeat in eternity vast

Slavery, war, genocide, bloodshed, pain

Tears wept by billions to everlasting shame

Humanity’s yesteryear may be full of injustice and hate

Still, try to erase them you but seal our fate

Yesterdays are today’s foundation, building blocks of tomorrow

Forget & erase the past to your future sorrow

Also there be triumph, victory, stories, love, pride

Let not ignorance wash away progress’ tide

Instead let the bad be remembered with the good

So that we not stick heads in sand and brood

Lessons many abound in days of yore

Heed them and daily strive to learn more

Ignore them to your own peril & danger

Then when they repeat remember the vexing anger

Daily live, laugh, touch, love, LEARN, cry

Tomorrow find yourself not wondering why

Let us all spend today improving on the past

So that together we may find a way to make love last

But should we spend today tearing down momentos of yesterday

If we do naught but kill off the past, truly it is tomorrow we slay

For moving forward is not possible

Never shall we recall our sins are washable

They can be cleansed with regret, duty, grief, care, love

Remember yesterday so tomorrow we may wing peace’s dove

For time doth not all wounds heal

It’s an onerous task must be approached with zeal
