Fucking traitor

you are empty promises and COVID kisses

should’ve known you weren’t real

when I first tasted you

(nothing good is ever free)

you could’ve told me we were milk

with an approaching expiration date

maybe i could’ve planted walls

to keep you away

from my puny heart

you could’ve told me we were ashes

of your last lover’s dreams

or that your last stop was another girl’s deathbed or tombstone

you collected roses from them all

trophies

from all the girls you’ve killed

and i miss you

more than I miss the girl I was

before you

you said you’d never leave

but I guess you weren’t any different

but we drank liquid moons every night

& stole every sunrise

like we would last forever

and you didn’t even say goodbye

when you blew our house of cards

the only home I’ve ever known

into the wind we used to own like weathermen

and Gods

Oh God

I thought you were mine

like the leaves have their branches

but I guess we weren’t evergreens

and I wish u never left

I still wish that you’d return

but more than anything I wish you’d closed the door

because your replacement hurts like broken knees

& the taste of bile on the lips you once sealed

with COVID kisses

Fucking traitor

heartbreak
