From Sewers to Labs
limerick on a Rat
A rat's life can be quite absurd,
With predators, they're always perturbed,
But they scavenge and thrive,
In both sewers and dives,
Surviving where others are deterred.
----------------------------------------------------------
In labs, they're subject to research,
Their fate, they cannot besmirch,
Without any say,
In whether they'll stay,
It's quite absurd, it's quite a search.
-------------------------------------------------------
Their taste buds have no bounds or fear,
They'll eat anything, it's quite clear,
From garbage to cheese,
And everything in between,
It's absurd, their diet has no peer.
-----------------------------------------------------
They breed at a fast and furious pace,
But many offspring do not have a place,
Disease, strife, and predation,
Lead to high mortality, no hesitation,
It's absurd, their survival's always at base.
------------------------------------------------------
Perceived as pests, it's plain to find,
Their reputation's always maligned,
Yet they're intelligent, yes,
Admired by some, no less,
It's absurd, their worth's too often declined.
----------------------------------------------------------------
So though their life may seem quite absurd,
They survive, where others would be deterred,
In sewers, labs, and dives,
They thrive, where others might die,
It's absurd, their resilience cannot be blurred.
