It’s Valentine’s Day
But you ain’t no saint
You tell me that it is
I tell you it ain’t
Pale skin cherubs not really my vibe
Blush on the cheeks when we imbibe
Wine glasses on the shelves pastel pink
I poured Veuve Clicquot 1841 down the sink
You love the pink parts that lie deep
But my dad always said the flesh is weak
And you lie so deep
I think about arrows
All the sound and fury up close
Yet from far away they seem innocuous
Flying through the air to pierce the toughest flesh
So much of nature is layers
From onions to earth.
