From Inside a Box

A small fish in a small world

By JensengTeaPublished 3 years ago • 1 min read

It feels colder than usual. The invisible walls are showing themselves; they're foggy today. Sometimes, clear pebbles roll down the invisible walls, leaving a clear trail behind. I try to eat them but they disappear before I can get them in my mouth. They probably wouldn't taste good anyway - the black ones on the floor sure don't.

There goes the human again. I won't see it for a while. Every day, warm yellow light wakes us up. The human changes colors, gathers some things, then leaves. It doesn't come back until the yellow light goes away. When it feels colder than usual, the human is all the same color. It's very dark. I like it.

Sometimes, when the human is gone, I stare at the other invisible wall - the one I can't reach. It's very far away but I can see white pebbles slowly drifting down. I wonder if it's food...

The human is back. It's changing colors again. It's not red. I hate red. It's coming over now. It often sits next to me on the other side of the invisible walls even if I'm just sleeping. The human is quiet when it does this. I wonder if it's sleeping too.
