Here in California, USA, our water consumption is way out of whack. We have a large portion of our land dedicated to farming (about 40%). As with electricity everywhere, the peasants support the major industries here. Silicon Valley, we are lookin' at you here, AI doesn't deserve the water people need to live, or grow the nation's food supply.
The Sierra Mountain snowpack supplies about 30% of the state's water, with areas that have little in the way of their own water, like LA, relying heavily on it. Besides tourism, this is the real reason you will hear us mountain folk praying for snow, and talking about how much we NEED it. We, all of California, desperately do.
