From Across the Room

Drip drip drip…

Fall the drops

From the crisp dark claws

Floating behind the drapes

Maddened by the howling wind

Drip drip drip…

My gaze sharpens

So does the pearl glow

Revealing the crimson splatter

and skinless fiery hands

Drip drip drip…

The long, lean bones bent on

To smother

Drip drip drip…

angry grunts

rage through the naked space

Shaking the silence

Drip drip drip…

The hostility

The unwavering determination

Challenge me

Sending ripples of fear

Drip drip drip…

The time freezes

So does my breath

Making me wonder....

What is there that preys

From across the room
