Frenzy

The Distraction of Sound (acrostic poem)

Donning my headphones to cut out the noise,

Immediately closes me in with sparkling silence.

Shunning the calls of the world, I

Turn my attention to the characters

Restlessly waiting their turn amid never-ending static.

And now, for this brief moment, I step out of my skin,

Calling to broody dragons, sly krakens and heartthrob fae

To come be my companions, to tell me the stories

In their own words, accompanied by blinding magic and re-spun myth.

Only for an hour or two I succumb, before falling back to Earth

Never quite free of the frenzy that anchors me to myself

About the Creator

Sierra Knoxly

Sierra lives a double life. By day a quiet mom of toddlers, but by night she's a steamy fantasy poly romance author. She rains chaos on characters like an avenging angel, shooting hearts with cupid's bow.
