My words were final.

Harsh. Sincere.

A shame they would only be rearranged and repackaged.

Branded to fit a narrative of someone else's design.

Slim waist, high rise, zero accountability.

Voodoo.

I can tell she's lying. Her body language disagrees with her open mouth.

She did it.

Her eyes are a bed of ice over dark water.

Her posture too straight. Not poised but stiff.

Everything betrays her.

The refrigerator door she attempts to close, refuses to shut.

The birds change their song when she approaches.

Even the television in the background whispers of murder when she enters the room.

With narrow-eyed smiles, they said I was kind.

Uh oh. There it is. I thought.

That's not a compliment--it's a sparkling clean butcher's knife.

Translation: "We believe you are of service and therefore useful to our desire to manipulate and abuse."

The look on their faces when I told them to go fuck themselves...

...priceless.

I should've said something different.

I was more composed in rehearsal.

Sharper with my talking points. Clearer.

But the moment was charged.

Emotional intoxication was the citable offense.

I looked at my bank statement.

Charges, I don't remember.

Taxes.

I'm far more aware of my emotional trauma but no better at budgeting it.

I spend emotional energy everywhere.

On insecurities; on fears; on doubts; on perfection.

On the insecurities of others.

On memories.

If a charge appeared on my bank statement today, from a location where I am not physically present, it would be flagged as fraudulent.

Yet, I constantly give emotional energy to thought-forms of past [trans]actions in which I am no longer physically present. Should these not also be flagged as fraudulent?

"Gratitude is the byproduct of wise emotional spending."
