Fragile Aries Ego

Scorched Earth in Reverse

By nathaneyPublished 5 years ago • Updated 5 years ago • 1 min read

I wasn't ready to feel inspired,

So weary of being sick and tired,

Suppose I lacked what I required.

Oh, I hold my own feet to the fire.

Rake me over the coals,

Grim folk tales never told,

You know how the story goes:

Mother said watch the stove,

And added fuel to the flames.

A burnt child dreads the fire,

Hide the smoke to look the same,

Branded by a possessed desire.

I became a lone ghost town crier,

Suppose I lacked what I required,

Harrowed hazard in how I’m wired.

Oh, I hold my own feet to the fire.

Fragile, ashen beauty to be used,

Flames that lick my open wounds

Accelerate the fervor of my moods.

Frightened fool, I fight fire with ruin.

Set myself alight to keep you warm,

Ever a good servant but bad master,

Like a home ablaze with no alarm,

Fire and brimstone’s my only pastor.

I try to pull my bacon from the frier,

Godforsaken, out of the pan, into the fire.
