Fractured

For Poppy's Prompts #9

By Cindy CalderPublished 2 years ago • Updated 2 years ago • 1 min read

Fractured labor of love, but a macabre memory of a jaded dream

Reverberating aftermath taunts, haunting with no chance to redeem

Spreads feathers of remorseful regret amid the desert’s storm

As wistful cries of ebullient emotion refuse to be conformed

Let it lift to drift upon the wind, scatter like sand among the ruins

For love was nothing but deceitful dreams spun in idealistic illusion

No stone edifice lingers here save residuals of a fractured frown

Scarred shadows of a lascivious love are all that can be found
