The Oldest City in the USA

A town with quaint cobblestone streets

never meant to bear cars.

Founded centuries ago,

In an entirely different time.

A time when Shakespeare was still alive.

A town so small,

that if one isn’t careful,

they may overlook one of the most beautiful cities America has to offer.

During the Spring,

Early morning dew sleeps upon the petals of newly blossomed flowers.

Spring breakers come to explore the towns family-owned shops

that are overflowing with vintage treasures.

They spend their mornings resting on top of the pure beige sand

letting their fair skin soak up the suns powerful rays.

During the Summer,

light and laughter fill the coastal air.

Sweet cherry popsicles

so vibrant in color

drip down the hands of innocent young tourists

looking for sweet relief from the unforgiving sun.

The aroma from the local chocolatier,

enticing each passerby with the overwhelming fragrance of rich cocoa.

During the Fall,

Tour guides walk guests by centuries old graveyards.

The long-forgotten ghosts will haunt anyone

who dares to venture near their ancient tombstones.

Old ghost stories flow through the town with newfound life

as October-time draws near.

The eyes of young children become wide with excitement and fear

ready to absorb all the ghost stories they can bear to hear.

During the Winter,

millions of individual lights

twinkle all through the streets.

Soft white lights

contrast with deep blues,

vibrant reds,

and emerald greens

bringing the holiday season to life.

Thousands of people travel to witness the glowing lights

sparkling all during night.

A town resting near the coast

filled with a fascinating history,

ready to welcome all who come to experience

everything that it hides

inside its cobblestone streets.
