Found

Refuge in Night's darkness(?)

By Peyton GoingsPublished 4 years ago • 1 min read

Eyes wide

Struck open like lighting,

Skin set ablaze.

Cold, too cold in the deafening night

I am surrounded by a sea of sound, yet

I am alone.

Wild eyes,

A smile in the darkness

Echoless footsteps

creep behind my shadow

Am I watched or followed?

I cannot tell.

Eyes without sight,

Blind I am as night.

I am alone.

I hear of another’s shadow

Eyes peer at me from the bend of trees

I hear murmur of the river and her secrets

and I seek her for her clarity.

Feet, pounding

Desperately searching for sanctuary

in the darkness

With a crash, I collapse

there to find a mirror

as She stares at me with half-opened lids

Smiling, a mirthless gaze.

I have been found.
