Forgotten

I wrote this in light of the fact that history and the thirst for knowledge seems to have diminished over the years. I sometimes wish we could go back to when times were simpler. When a greater importance was placed on wisdom and the truth within poems. This poem was written from the perspective of a book lost on the shelves. And its feelings on the passage of time.

I use to sit upon a throne of glory

But now as I fade away

none know of my story

At a lost time I'd guide

those before me

Wisdom was the light

My cover was the key

But now as the pages turn

Memory fades til burned

The path for forever free

Was lost amongst

the dying breed

Those who seeked me

Fell like autumns leaves

My temple dressed in cobble stone

Trembles since times flown

The limericks held within

go as sonnets slowly end

Our decades became

Our only friend most

common visitor tis the wind

I dwell amongst devine

Yet our truth you've yet to find

It hurts to know we'll be forgotten

But like the rest our roads

Go untrodden, we're a lost piece

of treasure but our hope is

to be sought again

About the Creator

Shalløw

Be the light others can't show, Be the water to the ones who can't grow, Be the friend others wish to know. Don't lose yourself to pain because it might never let go. 031
