Forget Myself

(Sometimes)

By BrenPublished 3 years ago • 1 min read

something made me forget myself

that clever image i had of me

only then was i truly able to let go

of me and of my mind and be free

(my meddlesome maelstrom)

thinking i now knew better

i wrote myself a cold hard note

a warning contained in every letter

and then

imagine the unimaginable

crease your temple and think

DAMMIT!

i took a hit out on my ego

first, i took out a loan

to pay for the hit

paid ‘em both up front

saw me coming

no honour amongst thieves

they rolled me blind

double dealing..

..four flushing

took my cash left my angst

left me with all my

bitter regrets

and a series of

viscously fluid inconveniences

like so many soggy half eaten crusts

sustenance yes but grody

and since then

has been the longest

most complicated

drawn out

tedious

nerve wracking

time consuming

overbearing

inane process

to say the least

parts of me still hang on

as other slowly slough off

this cold skin falls about me

my vanity becomes perplexed

questions melt in infancy

tests to shred

directions to head

bright eyes often red

inner wise left for dead

a fallacy is born

another truth dies

while man exists

so will his lies
