I'm on vacation
This place is beautiful, white sands , azure waters and a world untouched by war.
I like it here because it's easy to forget .
My brother is building a sand castle , sunshine turns his hair gold
The castle has turrets and seashell floors and here it's easy to forget..that not so far away someone else's brother, has just moved into a castle of sand and stone never to leave again.
The sunshine cannot touch him there his hair has turned powdery white .
His mother begs entry at the door.. his sister like me watches from afar..but her eyes are dead
We enter the city. A festival of light a symphony of sounds
..the music of a world untouched by war
I like it here because it's easy to forget
The crowds move like the azure waters and I'm lost in the tides once more
I don't have to remember that somewhere not so far away the crowds run helplessly without aim or hope of escape from falling metal that carries death and destruction and turns everything powdery white or blood red .
The sun sets. The now dark waters have probably washed the sand castle away.
The lights of this fair world untouched by war shine on, and though my shades are drawn ..I see them twinkling still .
This place is beautiful.
I hate it here.. because it's easy to forget.
