Forever Sleep

A Gothic Love Poem

By Eric B. RuarkPublished 6 years ago 1 min read
(Model: Naomi Tamez)

sleep, beautiful sleep, forever

frozen in time and memory

where no one will ever see you

age or decay... captured at perfection.

the pure well of beauty is yours

a luster too powerful for death to destroy

the tears of the gods will pale

in comparison to your splendor.

parting from you was a dark pain

that my soul had to endure

holding on to the vision seared

in my brain of our last happy hour.

my heartbeats are numbered

yours are not... I grow old in the countdown

waiting by your grave knowing

one day, you will thank me.
