forever is a long time

Forever is such a long time, until it comes to an end

Wounds begin to mend

And feelings begin to blend

Anger and sadness become one

Happy and lost hand in hand

It leaves a sour taste in your mouth

When everything goes south

But did it really go south

Or were you just blind to it

To the pain and the anger

The venom and the danger

Thoughts of a happily ever and forever

Ended by a sharp word

A small change

A blindfold being rearranged

A neon sign that was always on

But you never stopped to read it

Until it was no longer lit

And once you saw it there was no going back

No bulbs to change or cords to plug

Becoming a paper weight that you struggle to lug

A reminder of a time you were blinder

Before words were kinder

And dreams of forever knocked in your mind

Always keeping you blind

Until forever no longer feels like a long time

It grows silent like a mime

Never speaking only thinking

That forever really isn’t that long a time

That never is far longer than forever could ever be
