Forever Home

A little girls journey

Suitcase tattered and torn

Filled with everything she owned

Stuffed pink rabbit clutched within her tiny hands

Face filled with confusion

Eyes filled with tears

Heart filled with fear

Once again she was taken

To another place

To grow and live

Again and again

A recycled child

Passed around a system

That doesn't seem quite fair

Her hope starts to dwindle

Her trust and faith are breaking

As every night she wishes

To be found

To be given a chance in the world

To find a family that would love her

Show her kindness

And help to wipe away the tears

To teach her how to smile

To believe in a world that had done her wrong

No more dark closets

No more days without food

No more nights alone outside

No more sleeping in the rain

No more physical and emotional pain

She just wanted a place to go

A place to belong

No more suitcase tattered and torn

No more moving to and from

To finally have a family

That is all she wants

Because when she finally has that

She will, at last, be forever home
