For When A Woman Blooms

Identity

By Renae McCollumPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

Unfolding my petals carefully as the rainwater freely slips.

Easy as if this unboxing is the start of a challenge.

Sharp brown almond eyes framed by brown specs.

Freckles sprinkled across my beautiful wide nose like glitter on dusty concrete.

Full lips hidden by braided tresses.

I move cautiously through life as if watched by frothy evergreen eyes.

Cloaked in a white satin gown as I walk across the lush safari of hope.

I become entangled in mahogany vines.

Stuck.

Melting into a beautiful hue of green.

I am Unified.

Splash me with a bit of yellow.

Oh, sweet joy!

Hidden behind a slight shade of red.

I am unveiling my determination and struggle.

At last! Covered by a velvet shade of black.

I identify.

Binding and swaying as my petals fill with longing and desire.

I lay entangled in my thoughts, rooted in the endless cycle of overthinking, and enticed by the light slowly fading.
