(why I did it)

i let you use me.

don’t judge.

i did it for the poetry.

i did it for the darkness in me

that needs to be fed in lies

the devil in my mind

who needs your manipulation.

i opened the door

so you can make my scars deeper

and I can no longer pretend they don’t exist

because the pus seeps out of my open wounds

when you touch them.

i got down on my knees

because I knew you wouldn’t care

so I could sit and wallow

in my own pain

that you never created

but now I am allowed to feel.

i did it for the poetry.

heartbreak
