For The Love of God - Just Be Real

A performance poem with some beats. Performance poetry for the ones who ponder, wander and wait.

I hope you're cozy with a cuppa ready for some poetry.

Here to slam with you, dear reader.

Cheers Xx

Fiarfeathered well-wethered beyond excitement.

I am excited. Thrilled. Exuberant.

Did you know that the excitement built in your honour long, long ago?

Who is this "you" we speak of when we poem?

How do we, as in royalty, know that we're all talking about you royally?

The big letdown. I am afraid this won't come knocking unless you can relate.

It’s not time to be riveting

Falling on waves — water rippling.

Heartbreak chasm tripling.

Sorry, did you cringe just now?

Far from seen. I know and you're barely keen.

This is hard to swallow. Impossible to grasp.

There is no scenario where you come out like glass

Smooth and flawless. Fragile at best.

This is the storm we braved to the test.

Failed it?

Who knew that the wonder of love was made for you too.

Include me. Embrace me.

No this is not begging.

Let’s clap. Applause.

Bravo. Encore.

Standing ovation.

All for the performance that your followers adore.

And yet, this is not the time for those

Not the time for spiralling.

Okay, enough of that. Let’s get real.

The words you spill make clever hearts stone-cold

chill.

This is the freeze. The winter of your words.

Too cold to shiver. Clear as glass. Remember? Fragile.

Okay, at the standstill.

A handshake will make or break this deal.

When it comes to these tender hearts.

Please for the love of God. Just. Be. Real.

Author's Note

If you have been subscribed to me for some time then you've read a little back story on my love for poetry. You have especially read about my inspiration and love for slam/performance poetry.

I've been on the hunt for some local slams in my city (as it's a new one I have recently moved to) and I am really eager to see what the local poets are like! One thought I had as I was adding images was What if there was a slam where poets had imagery in the background as they performed their poems?

I have been to quite a few slams in my life but haven't seen anything like that. Have you?

Let's Chat!

Have you ever been to a slam? Performed in one? Open mic night? How was it? Have you written about that experience yet?

Be real, be free, be true, be you. Loved your poem! I've neither been to nor performed in a slam before.
