A battle between heaven and earth

an unholy angel long ago fallen

commands an unholy army

here on earth

his dominion

a spiritual war waged

flaming arrows lobbed

not at flesh but at your mind

the portal to your

heart

body

soul

recruited to steal, kill

and destroy through

Fear

Doubt

Guilt

Shame

Unforgiveness

the serpent is cunning

" just one more"

" what if you fail?"

" just this one time"

" but they need you"

" who's gonna know?"

he didn't threaten Eve with

violence or fear

all he needed her to do was

to disobey their Creator

so he calmly deceived her

with a smooth disarming demeanor

that's how he works

he shows up as your greatest

(or worst) temptation

and cheerfully derails you

but the good news is that we

were given instructions on

how to keep our minds safe

several thousand years ago.

the Bible is available to everyone

you don't have to be holy

to own it or read it

you don't need a degree or

a license or certificate to read it

you don't even have to believe in God

to read it

if you're just curious to know

how words can protect you from

darkness that you've noticed or fear.

here's how:

when a bad thought creeps

into your mind, notice it

isolate it

interrogate it like you

just caught it trying to

break into your safe room

because you did

check it against what the Bible teaches

and if it doesn't align with His Word

kick it out of your head

with a warning to not come back

sounds simple, right?

it takes practice to recognize

a negative thought or a temptation

and to be able to capture it

for questioning

and/or removing

an important part of spiritual warfare

is keeping the negative thoughts

from affecting you

don't just sit there

send them packing

and fill that spot with something

that you're thankful for.

for God so loved the world that

He came in the fleshly version of Him

and left us the spiritual version of Him

until He returns.

He continues to fight the darkness

for us

with us

through us.

“Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” Genesis‬ ‭3‬:‭4‬-‭5‬ ‭NKJV

“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,”. II Corinthians‬ ‭10‬:‭3‬-‭5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
