For Pete’s Sake…

A Through Z Poetry

By: DeEtta Miller

After the rain

Butterflies fly

Crocus bloom and

Dandelions defy

Every little creature

Frightened by the storm

Gallantly peeks out

Hoping to be warmed

Into the sunlight

Jubilant they run

Kicking up sand

Laughing is such fun

Moments of pure bliss

Never seeing the fox

Oblivious to harm

Pete porcupine is shocked

“Quiet my friends and

Run!” shouts Pete

Startling his friends

Time to retreat!

“Until this ends

Very close to me trot”

Wiry quills did fly

X marked the spot

Yet, Pete let him go

Zowie, that was close…

Great work. You should send this to teachers in preschool or primary school. They could use this as a language lesson or alphabet story.
