For Nurse Morgan And Nurse Kathlene

As Submitted To The 'Don't Turn Around' Challenge

By Marc OBrienPublished 4 months ago • 1 min read

Using a knife

Saving a life

Trusting partner like a wife

Always behind

Doing double time

Sturdy and kind

Always thinking with the mind

One may ask

Who is hiding inside the simple protective mask?

During the surgical task

Handing the metal tools

Wearing operating room blues

Calming those who are scared

With healthy care

Making many feel better

Who were under the weather

Feeling ill

Needing a supportive pill

That goes down

Performing rounds

Standing behind

Lab coasts forming a line

Marching in their business attire

Degrees on the wall, everyone admires

But with all the academic backing

A disease can do the attacking

Remember the person

Handling the nursing

Ensuring everything is all right

When the patient endures an individual, uncertain plight

Guarding those seeking compassionate knights

Showing them might

Displaying empowering energy to fight

A war

Whose enemy does not know rich from the poor

And is known to surrender on the hospital floor

When the nurse’s duty is complete

Succeeding, winning the unbelievable feat

Then with a sigh

Telling the unwanted ailment, “Goodbye

And we won’t see you again

Since you are on the mend,

Comprehend”

Gratitude
