For half of me is light
Perception always changing
For half of me is dark
Truth remains the same
Wax and wane though I might
I remain seated above
Always watching
Existing on another plane
Some pay me no notice
And some gaze at me in wonder
Still others study my patterns and movement
But only a few have ever touched my soil
Shrouded in darkness
I reflect the light bestowed upon me
My beauty lies in my mystery
And so I slowly turn away
There are many days
I dream of crashing to Earth
To reside among the humans
But it would destroy us all
Instead I befriend the stars
Other lost souls
Floating in the void
All light years apart
But I have resigned myself
No, I am contented
To occupy my own gravity
For I am The Moon.
