HIGHSCHOOL FOOTBALL:

Mumble, tumble, bumble, rumble

Dropped the ball it's a fumble

Ramble, scramble, grab and run

Pigskin underarm greased up fun

Dart to left, jig to the right

Comes the endzone near to sight

Whacked, thwacked, runner sacked

Six more points still be lacked

Smack the ground holding tight

Headplant grass, tackling fight

Dogpiled jumble elbows knees

Helmet loose earful of bees

Drag them off calls the ref

Flag the play, whistling deaf

Back it off to throw once more

Toss the football to the fore

Down goes center hup hup hike

Gun the leather quarterback psych

Find a hole smash on through

Spiked cleats over ground they flew

Fullback, running back, back for a quarter

Find a receiver shotgun the porter

Cornerback flying legs like jets

Watch receiver place your bets

Hometown boys playing it hard

Marching band, cheerleaders, singing bard

Rival of old gained the ball

Fourteen to seven against the wall

Brown bullet arcs high oer'head

Miss it? Catch it? Feel the dread

Lofting down spiraling true

Two thousand eyes watching you

Thousand breaths released at once

Ball drops low spectators grunts

Pass complete, moans groans roars

Mustangs got one on the Boars

Honor glory vanity pride

Twisted ankle ambulance ride

After game the party is on

Glowing faces not pale nor wan

Hoist a beer and make a toast

To vanquished rivals make this boast

Ever and all we'll remember this day

How we felt to go all the way

Championship game trophy ours

Kiss your girl buy her flowers

High school Gods young and strong

On the field can do no wrong

Monday in school in each class

Brag on whipping some Mustang ass

Twenty years on down the line

Wonder what happened twas so fine

Lift a glass and drink to the past

Bask in the glory of days too fast
