Flying Solo

With Everywhere to go

Most people want to be under the spotlight,

but there are plenty who prefer to fly solo,

low beneath the radar to be close and to be far,

and to remain true to who they truly are.

Dissipating through the nonchalant air

doesn’t mean that we don’t have a half of a care,

it’s often in the golden name of self-preservation,

to have a grounding hold on the strings of our sanity.

In every room there is a blind spot

that only few have the ability to see,

and once our gaze is laser engaged,

its surroundings blur, then everything begins to fade.

The momentary retreat is an oasis for our souls,

we are taken to a place where time stops ticking,

and all of the things we cannot see with our eyes,

suddenly take a breath and come to waking life.

We can live in reality with one foot in the heavens,

death isn’t necessary to find some kind of lasting peace,

taking a conscious step behind the eye-blinding veils

often brings us places where only happiness prevails..

There is absolutely nothing wrong,

with stepping away from what drains our vitality,

to be with the things who spread healing balm,

on the stresses who thrive when they threaten our calm.

Eyes tightly closed, or eyes wide-open,

absolutely nothing stands in the way

of a person who knows how to travel through the realms,

without ever having to leave the room.

Some say it’s a gift and others call it a curse,

because there lies a danger in loving the feeling

of freedom skyrocketing to the moon at will can bring.

It kills our fears and fuels our freedom;

It feels a lot like we live in our own personal kingdom.
