Look up at the sky, sweet bird

spread your wings, fly the way

you soared in yesterdays

I promise you,

the clouds have all gone

the storms have all passed

a new dawn is breaking

a new day is beginning

warm rays of a golden sun

are shining in a brilliant sunrise

~

fly away, sweet bird

lift your spirit

into the radiance

of an aurora

colliding above

sail across

a cloudless sea

far from the places

that broke and

crumbled

~

fly away, sweet bird

a gentle current is here

to carry you away

leave your wounds, your scars

on the ground below

glide high above the horizon

high above the mountain peaks

leave our grief, our sorrows

spiraling

in tendrils of air, falling

~

fly away, sweet bird

ascend through the heavens

touch the limits of paradise

silhouette the eternities

live forever in our hearts

forget the squalls

forget the gales

the rain has gone

the wind has quieted

leave your pain, your suffering

your empty moments

drifting slowly, behind

~

fly away, sweet bird

fly as we let you go

float effortlessly

on drafts of air

stretch your wings out

in a crystal azure sky

feel the wind passing

beneath you

let the past go,

with your regrets

soar into the

atmosphere above

leave your sadness

blowing silently

in a breeze

of rustling leaves

~

fly away, sweet bird

fly as we say, goodbye

as we cry, the last

of our tears

if you ever

think of us

in your travels

remember us in

happy memories

of days

when we smiled

when our cares evaporated

in the ether

~

fly away, sweet bird

take our love up

on every beat of your wings

let go of the weight

still holding you, tethered

take solace

in our souls, mending

reach out into a blue ocean

spreading across a painted sky

float along the waves

of an invisible tide

underneath a cascading

light from

an ethereal moon

~

fly away, sweet bird

fly away, from this terra firma

from this garden of remembering

fly away, as we lay you to rest

as we give peace

to a life once lived

as we look back on

the ways,

one soul's touch

was felt

by so many

~

fly away, sweet bird

~

fly, fly

fly away

Sweet bird

Sweet spirit

Sweet ghost

fly away

In loving memory of a life long friend, of a wonderful woman who came into his life and turned a lost soul around with an abundance of light and hope. I miss you both, so much. Two beautiful spirits taken too soon.
