Wonderland Challenge Day 8 "Caterpillar"
A butterfly
living a reverse life
iridescent wings rubbed away
ground finely with
mortar and pestle
color used to paint your
grey wrinkled face
࿔‧ ֶָ֢˚˖𐦍˖˚ֶָ֢ ‧࿔
Left, broken
on your cluttered makeup tray
all my meager strength
concentrated on spindly legs
drug my wounded thorax
to a low-hanging branch
touching the windowsill
attached and spun my protective
chrysalis
𓂃 ࣪ ִֶָ🦋་༘࿐
scratching and tapping at the case
woke me from my regenerative state
finally, I let it all go
transformed in the relief
I cut my way out ate my way free
suddenly, so very hungry
hungry for my very life
⋆｡𖦹°⭒˚｡⋆🐛⋆｡𖦹°⭒˚｡⋆
I never managed to get very far
on glittering wings
diamonds and sapphires
shining and gleaming
this route has started
to seem much safer
all of my many legs
planted firmly
on the ground
the ground, of course, being
whatever surface
I deign to walk upon
