Flowers Grow in the Heart of Me
A beautiful sight to see

Flowers Grow in the Heart of Me
Flowers grow in the heart of me,
where no one else can see,
they bloom between my memories,
and everything I used to be.
Some are red for love I gave,
some are blue for tears,
some have grown from broken dreams,
I carried through the years.
There are roses for the people,
who left footprints on my soul,
though some have gone away from me,
their flowers still grow whole.
There are daisies for my laughter,
little petals wild and free,
they dance around the foolish times,
that still live inside of me.
Some flowers grew from sadness,
in corners without light,
I thought that they would wither,
but they somehow survived the night.
There are weeds amongst my garden,
from the hurt I couldn’t hide,
but even weeds have flowers,
when you look at their softer side.
My heart has known its winters,
when nothing seemed to grow,
but underneath the frozen ground,
the seeds still seemed to know.
That spring would come and find me,
and wake what sorrow hid,
and every little piece of me,
would bloom because it did.
So don’t bring me perfect flowers,
wrapped beautifully for me,
I’ve grown my own through love and loss,
they’re rooted deep in me.
And when my days are over,
and my final petals flee,
remember I was once a garden,
where flowers grew in the heart of me.
