Flower Petal Tears

A 'Say It Plainly Entry'

The world is shit.

It hurts.

Its cruel.

And I can't ever

Seem to stop

The flow of empathy.

I can't stop crying.

Can't stop watching the tears

Fall into the dirt at the bottom

Of diseased trees,

Still alive,

Still experiencing sunrises and sets

Like it isn't going to snap

In the next gentle breeze.

I know I am saying goodbye

To something

Every moment of every day.

Goodbye to spider gone without food.

Goodbye to the fly dead in the freeze.

Goodbye to the sapling run over by deer.

Goodbye to the invisible world on my palms,

The bacteria and their friends.

Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye.

All I can do is dream of their easy deaths

And cup the flowers in my hands,

Pet the back of beetles and moths

Doing their best to live,

To experience the same burning skies

As the hawks and the vultures and me.
