Flames Within

The hurt, the pain, the anger enraged,

engaged the fire within, burning, burning holes within the soul, and took its toll,

until there was no feeling left.

Flames burning brightly, day and nightly, for protection from so called lessons that came ‘round,

pfft, how does get fucked sound?

Flipping the bird and keeping the hurt, the anger, the rage, stoking the fire to keep the flames, the flames burning more holes into the soul,

until something about it starts to feel old, like an old toy, an old toy that’s no longer played with,

instead a desire; to release the fire, to bring back joy that’s been a missed bit.

Stop stoking, just feeling the flames that were once quite something, now gradually turning into nothing - into embers, then ash, feeling no longer attached to these feelings.

The holes start to heal, like a new turn of the wheel, walking through the ashes to the other side, a yearning, and there! There are signs, even a crack of a smile, a new path, a new journey,

that’s mine.
