Every room has its elephant
This one- It hangs on the wall in front of me
Yet still I persist, in ignorance
But not completely clueless to the circuit I continue
I can only hit snooze so many times-
And I am soon to find out just how many
At its deadline time will demand what is due-
And that time is now
So I'm here
At the bridge I said I would cross when I arrived
Standing here
Staring
And nothing else
Out of breath-
I've ran into the very thing I was running away from
Again
I've come full circle, having completed another lap
Will I go around again?
Or will I finally face the music?
Of this song I hate
The music of fate-
I turn the page and turn away
If it's out of sight it's out of mind right?
Wrong-
A new coat of paint won't make any stain go away
And I can't right every wrong- So I write this song
The caged bird sings
Giving persona to poetry plays as emotional morphine
What warrants why I write about the very thing I'm running from
Atychiphobia and paranoia are reasons some
Why exist the desire to find dopamine to distract me from-
The numbness I feel in my face when I stand in the face of all that I can't stand
The glass mirror speaks, straight to my soul
And repeats to me, all I've already been shown
A broken mirror shows I've reaped what I've sown
To fix what is in front of me-
All I need resides within exactly what's in front of me
A break in the routine can only carry a creature of habit such a distance
But with the very first step, it's seen
The caged bird's key becomes present in this very instance
A change in words creates a difference in worlds-
The caged bird is free-
A sentence ended with a sentence
The glass mirror weaps, joyous water leaks
Change is coming, and the elephant is leaving
About the Creator
JM
Personally, writing began as a creative outlet, to be a means of processing and venting emotion, but it has become so much more. Something I want not to be just relatable, enjoyable and a good read, but to reach someone who is in need.
