What we don't know

By Clifford KincaidPublished about a year ago • 1 min read

We sit in silence in early hour light,

hoping things somehow turn out right.

The sun has not yet climbed the sky—

we wait... and cast the line, and lie.

He does not talk, just hears the land,

hoping to simply be, not make his last stand.

Just another fisherman with nothing to fear—

but he is not, and something feels unclear.

Out of place, though far from his past mistakes,

the weight of this is real; it never breaks.

So we sit, and we wait, as the sunlight breaks—

but still, no one comes to make or break this case.
