Fires in December
Lately, fire season in Southern California is creeping into December when the the weather is supposed to be cold and wet. Not in the 80s or 90s.

I.
Hot winds from the east
fan the December fires.
Winter or Summer?
II.
White flakes cast about,
like snow, ashes cover hills.
Autumn or Winter?
III.
The Santa Ana’s
helps spread the fire blossoms.
It’s winter or Spring?
IV.
The parched grassy hills
Becomes a barren, scorched mound.
It’s Spring or Summer?
V.
Only dates reveal.
That winter is to be here.
Yet, fires burn near.
