Fingerprints
A Poem About Something Rare
On the balls of my fingers, precious swirls and dips
Through hard work and hand-holding relationships
No matter the change in face, weight or even hips
They stay with me past, present or future tense
I am still me
and I can prove it through my fingerprints
No matter what social media says or thinks
Despite paper cuts and marks written in inks
Even after touching frozen poles or ice cold drinks
I still maintain my difference
I am still me
And I can prove it through my fingerprints
This is where identical twins divide
Neither science nor heredity can match its stride
In it my true identity confides
I'd like to introduce myself, ladies and gents
I am still me
And I can prove it through my fingerprints
