The many phases of me
so many faces I see
deciding, overriding
who I thought I'd be
chasing my decisions
filling my head with doubt
if I turned to see what follows me
would I ever make it out
Out of my head
out of my mind
watching the clock
to turn back time
sneaking ahead
falling behind
time and again
I sit here, blind
to what once was
to what will be
dodging the thoughts
pursuing me
entire worlds
here in my mind
crumble and fall
and intertwine
begging the change
changing the plea
discarded, rewarded and then rearranged
till swaddled in soil
consumed by the dirt
the constant turmoil
disguised by the hurt
that altered the path
re added the math
leaving questions unanswered
as time sits back and laughs
as we try to out run
what is predestined to come
no fear is out done
simply a game for the young
as age quickly covers ground
changing the moon into sun
when we turn back around
another phase has begun
Of all the places I've been
and things I've still yet to try
no matter how thin my skin
what good is looking behind
