Filthy Dirty Dealings
He arrived without a warning,
Dressed sharp from head to toe,
A smile that drew attention
Wherever he would go.
His stories sounded perfect,
His manners seemed refined,
The sort of man who always knew
Exactly what to find.
The ladies found him charming,
His compliments were sweet,
He made each one feel special
Whenever they would meet.
He listened with such patience,
He learned their hopes and fears,
Building trust so carefully
Across the passing years.
He spoke of grand investments,
Of fortunes still to grow,
Of opportunities so rare
Few people ever know.
One widow gave her savings,
Another signed a loan,
A third placed all her confidence
In promises he’d shown.
The money flowed toward him,
The paperwork looked clean,
Every detail crafted
To support the growing scheme.
The ladies dreamed of futures
Where hardship would be gone,
Believing all his guarantees
Would help them carry on.
Then one day he disappeared,
No warning and no trace,
Only empty offices
And memories of his face.
Phone numbers stopped responding,
Letters came returned,
Leaving shattered trust behind
And lessons harshly learned.
The truth emerged in fragments,
Town after town the same,
Different women, different losses,
Connected by one name.
Some had lost their pensions,
Some had lost their homes,
Others lost their confidence
To trust when kindness comes.
The authorities pursued him,
The stories spread around,
Of countless broken promises
Wherever he’d been found.
Though money may be stolen,
And confidence betrayed,
women found their strength again
Despite the price they paid.
His filthy dirty dealings
Left damage far and wide,
Yet those he tried to break apart
Refused to stay denied.
