surrendering to the morning haze

one step closer to the grave

already done, nothing to say

there’s nothing left for you to save

the world awaits the taste of flesh

presumably what tastes the best

this tender heart inside my chest

the scavengers will have the rest

down to the bone they will devour

as I move toward my final hour

willingly surrender my power

to feed the beasts and tend the flowers

a tender reed across the path

a gentle breeze when looking back

a wild weed and sidewalk crack

just think of me in terms like that
