Fernway

the longing for faraway places

By Kelli Sheckler-AmsdenPublished 2 years ago • 1 min read

Longing for that

Something

For that place

I left behind

For that warm comfortable

Feeling

When it seemed everything

Was fine

That place Ive held close

To me

When I needed to get

Away

That place that calls out

to me

My safe haven

My…

Fernway

I’m sure that it existed

I know that I’ve been here

Before

I know Ive seen it’s

Beauty

But I can’t seem to get there

Anymore

A vague and warped

Illusion

Held like a picture

In my head

I feel like I revisit

When I close my eyes

In bed

But each day

When I awaken

It slips again

Just out of reach

Making me question

Its existence

Convincing myself it’s just

A dream
