Feathers

Lyric

By Julie O'Hara - Author, Poet and Spiritual WarriorPublished 5 months ago 1 min read

Verse 1

Startled from a slumber deep and endless

I felt your touch, so cool upon my feet

Delicate hands, like satin, soft and tender

A memory of love, made complete

Verse 2

I buried you in sacred ground, I know

Thirty years or more have come and gone

So how is it you’re standing in this glow?

Where have you been? Where do I belong?

(Chorus)

My lips were still, but my heart heard you say:

"Baby, it’s time, come fly with me away."

Oh, the relief, a love I can’t explain

Reunited, free from all the pain

To fly home, to fly home

I’m flying home with you

(Verse 3)

My shoulders tingle, skin is tearing through

In zig-zag lines, a white and tender birth

Feathers emerging, white with a golden hue

No longer needing this old shack of earth

Verse 4

No pain, just strength like I have never known

A warm embrace is blanketing my soul

My tired flesh is gone, I’m finally grown

The spirit breaks away to make me whole

(Chorus)

My lips were still, but my heart heard you say:

"Baby, it’s time, come fly with me away."

Oh, the relief, a love I can’t explain

Reunited, free from all the pain

To fly home, to fly home

I’m flying home with you

(Bridge)

I am empty, but I am full

Bursting with a love that pulls

My hot gold wings against your cool silver hand

Soaring far above the promised land

Through the stars, the universe, the night

Through eternity, we take our flight

(Guitar/Instrumental Solo - Soaring and Uplifting)

(Chorus)

Darling, it’s time, we’re flying far away

No more shadows, only endless day

Oh, the relief, the love, the love, the love!

Safe in the wings of light above

We’re flying home, we’re flying home

Finally together, I am home...

With you.

(Outro)

Hot gold... cool silver...

Soaring through the stars...

We are home.

(Fade out)
